SKA shines at World School Games in Barcelona
BackTwenty-six Year 9 and 10 boys from The Skinners’ Kent Academy competed in the World School Games football tournament in Barcelona, facing off against 75 teams from 35 schools across 18 countries. The boys played eight matches over two days, with both SKA teams performing well.
Year 10 Group Stages
Day 1: 1 loss, 2 wins, 1 draw
Day 2: 2 wins
Semi-Final: 2-0 win vs TASIS (Portugal)
Cup Final: 0-0, 4-5 loss on penalties vs Beths GS (England)
The Year 10 team exceeded expectations, reaching the Cup Final and conceding only one goal throughout the tournament. Their collective team effort was outstanding.
Year 9 Group Stages
Day 1: 4 losses
Day 2: 1 draw, 1 win
Bowl Playoff: 3-2 win vs The School of Research Science (UAE)
Playing against older teams, the Year 9 boys showed resilience, finishing strong with a win in the Bowl Playoff, including a hat trick by Toby Wheeler.
The entire squad gained valuable experience, showcasing their skills and representing the Academy with pride. Congratulations to both teams for their remarkable performances!
