Job Purpose
•To support the Academy and Obama House in the delivery of the curriculum in support of raising standards and promoting the vision, ethos, culture and policies of the Academy in line with Academy Improvement Plan and the House Development Plan.
•To support the House to secure high quality learning, raise standards and have a positive impact on student experience within the subject area.
•To implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students and to support a designated curriculum area as appropriate.
•To work to the professional duties set out in the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document and meet all requirements as appropriate of the Teachers’ Standards (attached as Appendices to this document).
Key Responsibilities
•Ensure all students engage in learning and achieve, through careful planning of the structure, methodology and delivery of the learning experience.
•Use assessment data to plan next step learning and overcome individual barriers to learning.
•Raise standards of student attainment and achievement within the subject and monitor and support student progress.
•Actively partake in coaching, mentoring, lesson feedback and co-teaching where applicable.
•To have an awareness of & responsibility for the Health and Safety elements of the technical equipment used by students and staff within Film Studies.
•To build on the external relationships with key stakeholders and community partnerships already forged, e.g. The British Film Institute
•To monitor an effective budget for the running of the Department.
Additional Duties
•Develop constructive relationships and liaison between other subject area staff, SEN staff and support staff.
•Engage in relevant continuous professional development opportunities and performance management arrangements.
•Attend House and Academy Meetings and support enrichment activities.
•Be responsible for academic and pastoral tracking, and review and support the wellbeing and safeguarding of a group of students within their House and House Tutor Group.
•To oversee the extracurricular events and trips and ensure the external specialist teachers are enhancing the learning opportunities for all who engage.
•To undertake other duties as may reasonably be assigned by the Principal or the Academy Trust, recognising that the duties of this post may vary from time to time without changing the general character of the post or level of responsibility. Recognise that roles and responsibilities may change as the Academy develops.
